Our school

Riverside Regional Elementary School is the only public, English speaking, elementary school in the Saguenay Lac-St-Jean region. It has dynamic, devoted and enthusiastic teaching and support staff. 

Riverside Regional Elementary School is located in Arvida (Jonquière) in Québec. 

We offer programs from Kindergarten to grade 6 with a possibility to continue learning at the Riverside Regional High School.

Education in English

Although French is the main language of instruction in Québec, the law provides exceptions for children who are eligible to follow English education.
At Riverside Regional Elementary School, your child will be fully taught in English, from Kindergarten till grade 6.

Riverside Regional Elementary School has about 400 students. Our teachers’ approach is personal and respectful to each individual. There are 2 or 3 classes for each grade.

Teachers know the students by their names and vice versa.
We feel this ‘open door’-policy encourages harmony and agreement.

Family-oriented

Riverside Regional Elementary School is a family-oriented school where all the partners play an active role in ensuring our students’ success. Throughout the year, there are several family events and parent-teacher meeting opportunities.
In addition, we strongly encourage parents to participate in decision making (Governing Board), organizing special activities (Parent Participation Organization) or as a sponsor (RRES Foundation).

Our school building

In 2017, we were relocated to a totally renovated and bigger building, creating light and spacious classrooms, multifunctional learning rooms, 2 physical education rooms and a library, offering a wide range of literature. 
The outside area includes lots of playground equipment, a real size soccer field and lots of space for the students to play during recess.
