On June 21, for National Indigenous Peoples Day, let’s recognize and celebrate the history, heritage, resilience and diversity of First Nations, Inuit and Métis across Canada.
Numerous activities showcasing the richness and diversity are organized across the country:
Québec Week for People With Disabilities takes place every year from June 1 to 7.
This event highlights the importance of taking action to improve the social participation of people with disabilities. It's a week that highlights the good things we've done, as well as the obstacles that remain.
June is National Indigenous History Month in Canada, an opportunity to learn about the unique cultures, traditions and experiences of First Nations, Inuit and Métis. It's a time to honour the stories, achievements and resilience of Indigenous Peoples, who have lived on this land since time immemorial and whose presence continues to impact our evolving country.
A very special mention to all the members of our school board staff who, through their respective roles, make our educational mission shine, while enabling all our students to receive the best possible education!
Thank you all so much!
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Julien Duchamp to the position of Director of Educational Services, effective September 1st, 2024.

Did you know that 23 April is a symbolic date in world literature?
It is the date on which several prominent authors, William Shakespeare, Miguel de Cervantes and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega all died. This date was a natural choice for UNESCO's General Conference, held in Paris in 1995, to pay a world-wide tribute to books and authors on this date, encouraging everyone to access books.
World Book and Copyright Day is a celebration to promote the enjoyment of books and reading. Each year, on 23 April, celebrations take place all over the world to recognize the scope of books - a link between the past and the future, a bridge between generations and across cultures.
Have a great read!

Learning for All!
For generations, the Naskapi people have occupied the land of what is now northern Québec and Labrador since time immemorial. The Naskapi were nomads, living off the land and following the caribou herds on which they depended for resources. During the 1950s, the Naskapi way of life changed when most of the Naskapi people moved from Fort Chimo area to the Schefferville region.
The signing of Northeastern Quebec Agreement (NEQA) in 1978 which followed The James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement (JBNQA), led to development of the community of Kawawachikamach which continues to grow and flourish.
Through the Jimmy Sandy Memorial School and the James Chescappio Memorial Learning Centre, the CQSB proudly honours its relationship with the Naskapi people.
